1 The Lord is king: let the earth rejoice; ♦︎
let the multitude of the isles be glad.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him; ♦︎
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him ♦︎
and burns up his enemies on every side.
4 His lightnings lit up the world; ♦︎
the earth saw it and trembled.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, ♦︎
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declared his righteousness, ♦︎
and all the peoples have seen his glory.
7 Confounded be all who worship carved images
and delight in mere idols. ♦︎
Bow down before him, all you gods.
8 Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of Judah rejoiced, ♦︎
because of your judgements, O Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are most high over all the earth; ♦︎
you are exalted far above all gods.
10 The Lord loves those who hate evil; ♦︎
he preserves the lives of his faithful
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 Light has sprung up for the righteous ♦︎
and joy for the true of heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, ♦︎
and give thanks to his holy name.

18Moses said, Show me your glory, I pray. 19And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you the name, The Lord;* and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20But, he said, you cannot see my face; for no one shall see me and live. 21And the Lord continued, See, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock; 22and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; 23then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.

14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a fathers only son,* full of grace and truth.
15(John testified to him and cried out, This was he of whom I said, He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me. )
16From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
17The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
18No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son,* who is close to the Fathers heart,* who has made him known.
